Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor is entering the final week of the NFL regular season in a position that not many other stout running backs over the past decade have been in.
Taylor is currently a contender for the 2021 NFL MVP award and is among the frontrunners for the 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year honor as well. The second-year running back has essentially guided the Colts offense throughout the campaign, as he leads the league in yards from scrimmage (2,076) and rushing yards (1,734). He also sits at the top of the leaderboard in total touchdowns with 20.
Barring a video-game-like performance from Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon or Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp in Week 18, Taylor will not only clinch a rushing title but also finish in the top spot for the most yards from scrimmage this season.
In what has already been a historic campaign for Taylor, he well sees that he is among the contenders for both the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year honors. More so, as he noted to SiriusXM NFL Radio ahead of the Colts’ Week 18 clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars, it would mean quite a lot to him if he were to win either of these two prestigious individual awards.

“So being able to have that opportunity to align myself with those guys, not necessarily put myself in the same spectrum, but just to align myself with those guys, it would be an honor. And it would be something special to share, especially with this group of guys.”
As mentioned, Taylor has had quite a historic campaign, which has included setting the record for the most rushing yards in a season in Colts franchise history.
In the big picture, Taylor sure will look to lead the Colts to a win over the Jaguars to officially clinch their ticket to the playoffs later on this month.
