The Indianapolis Colts recently got back to the win column after they grabbed a 31-3 blowout victory over the Houston Texans. After their Week 6 win, Frank Reich and his squad have improved to a 2-4 record for the second spot in the AFC South.

With evident improvements from their performances over the past weeks, the Colts are showing that they are already learning from their mistakes and getting better over time. The win will surely give them a much-needed confidence boost before they visit a gritty San Francisco 49ers squad for Week 7 action.

Here are three takeaways from the Colts Week 6 victory over the Texans:

Colts Week 6 Takeaways

3. T.Y. Hilton announced his return against the Texans.

After going through an uncertain offseason, wide receiver T.Y Hilton finally made his first appearance for the 2021 season in Indianapolis. He came back like he never left as he showed his explosiveness along with his pass-catching abilities against the Texans.

Hilton was also efficient as he caught all four passes for 80 yards before leaving the game with a minor quad injury. The veteran's return in Week 6 was huge for the Colts as they gained another reliable weapon that can serve as a deep threat down the field.

Similar to previous seasons, Hilton is going to have a vital role within the offensive unit and is expected to be a major contributor for the Colts moving forward.

2. Jonathan Taylor is on fire for Indianapolis right now.

Running back Jonathan Taylor has been showing that he is taking on a huge jump in his sophomore campaign this season. His performance in Week 6 against the Texans once again proved that he is currently one of the best young RBs in the league.

On Sunday, Taylor exploded in the second half and notched a total of 145 yards on 14 carries to go with two scoring drives for the Colts. His high-scoring performance was headlined by an 83-yard run on the field which reportedly set a new franchise record for the Colts, per the team's website.

With his recent performances, offensive coordinator Marcus Brady definitely has to utilize Taylor's running prowess in order to give the team a better chance of putting up points across the board. Hopefully, the 22-year-old can sustain his momentum and power the Colts to more wins moving forward.

1. Carson Wentz has been showing continuous improvement in recent weeks.

After sustaining a couple of early losses, Carson Wentz's career in Indianapolis didn't get to start the way that he wanted it to be. However, the former Pro Bowler is gradually showing improvement and developing better chemistry with his new teammates.

In Week 6, Wentz's game wasn't perfect but he was able to show his arm strength as he pushed the ball down the field and opened up the passing game against the Texans. He ended the tilt with 223 yards on 11-of-20 attempts to go with two touchdowns scored.

Certainly enough, the 28-year-old still needs to work on some aspects of his game in order to be a more complete quarterback for the Colts. However, he is also showing that he can deliver the goods and lift the team to a dominant win, just like he did in Week 6.

Hopefully, Carson Wentz will be able to gain more confidence and get even better on the field as the weeks go by. His improved play and the emergence of Jonathan Taylor along with T.Y. Hilton's return will all be crucial for the Colts' success this season.
