Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has already paved the way from the NFL to the WWE, others now simply have to follow in his footsteps. Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee took it to heart and saw an opportunity to make his own appearance in the squared-circle. Enter superstar Adam Cole.
WWE NXT posted the football player being slated against wrestler Adam Cole on Twitter:

Pat McAfee also brought along some friends to join him in his newfound venture. These include fellow former NFL players A.J. Hawk and Darius Butler, along with The Pat McAfee Show's Nick Maraldo.
Mcafee has some words to say for Cole as part of a build-up to the match:
Article Continues Below“And you're going to have explain to the entire wrestling community how you lost to an insider. Let me tell you how you lost to an outsider, because you're great – in this world you are. But I am next level. I am above you as a human. I am above you as an athlete. And on Saturday it's gonna end with one swing of this foot meeting your face, sending it to the moon and the only sound that any of these idiots and anybody at home will hear, is boom!”
WWE also tweeted a glimpse of the action featuring McAfee against Adam Cole:

The match was formulated when Cole began with an angle back in late July on his YouTube show with the host agitating the wrestler. McAfee remarked about Cole being too small and inferior to which Cole spurned back with expletives.
McAfee's stint in the WWE didn't come off as a surprise to many. After hanging his cleats, he went on to find a home in a number of media companies including FOX Sports, ESPN, DAZN, and Westwood One. He also lend his voice to the WWE as an announcer most often used in pre-show appearances back in 2018.
His future in the wrestling industry has yet to be clearly determined. Hopefully, the direction taken by Pat McAfee as a wrestler would be as equally fruitful as his podcast show and NFL career.
