New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, who is known for having issues with the franchise for some iffy actions, is now claiming he is a leader.
Why? Because, ugh, you know.
No, really. “You know” is literally what he said.
First, here is some sane thinking.
“I feel like I’ve earned everything I’ve gotten,” Wilkerson said, via Daniel Popper of the New York Daily News.
That's fine. Dude has earned a lot of things on his own. He got himself to the National Football League. Good for him.
After doing a “next question” when asked if Jets fans should trust him, here comes the fun kicker:
Article Continues Below“I feel like I’m a leader because of the things I’ve done, you know, helping, you know, build this organization,” Muhammad Wilkerson said.
What in the world? Build the organization into … what?
Wilkerson had a great 12-sack season in 2015, which resulted in a five-year, $86 million contract.
Since then? He has eight sacks in 28 games. He has also been benched for being late twice in the last month, and was left home for last week’s game in New Orleans. That's some leadership, friends.
Anyway, people like to laugh at the Jets. We can do that, but do I ever feel bad for their fan base.
