Is a back-to-back in-store? After winning the MVP award in his first year as a starter in 2018, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sits on top of the mountain for 2019 MVP odds in BetOnline.ag's Sportsbook, per The Athletic's Jon Machota.

His odds sit at 5/1, and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is right behind him with 9/1 odds to do so.

Mahomes being on top of MVP odds should come as no surprise. In 2018, the Chiefs quarterback set the NFL landscape ablaze, recording 50 touchdown passes — a league-high. The former Texas Tech Red Raiders completed 383 of his 580 passes for 5,097 passing yards and 12 interceptions as well.

Mahomes and the Kansas City offense hasn't given any indications that they'll be slowing down anytime soon either. He's healthy and ready to win after losing in the AFC Championship. He has “quarterback whisperer” and innovative offensive mind Andy Reid as his head coach. He has an offense with weapons across the board, and, perhaps most importantly, is healthy and enjoyed a full offseason as a starter.

However, one thing not going for Mahomes is that the rest of the NFL has a full-season of film on him. Though his no-look passes, deep bombs and improbable passes are unlikely to be stopped; defensive coordinators are surely implementing updated game plans to limit him.

Nonetheless, Mahomes should be the top pick to win MVP. He has everything going for him and may even get better than in 2018.

Though his unearthly stats may regress, if the Chiefs win, he may go back-to-back, at least according to oddsmakers.
