Heading into Thursday Night Football's tilt with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes needed just 15 yards to become the fastest quarterback in NFL history to hit 7,500 passing yards. Unsurprisingly, the third-year quarterback hit that mark on the first drive of the game.
It took 24 games for Mahomes to record 7,500 passing yards for his career. Hall of Famer Kurt Warner previously held the record. He hit the mark in Week 16 of the 2000 season with the then-St. Louis Rams; he did so in 27 games, at the age of 29. Mahomes beat him by three and isn't even yet eligible to rent a car in the United States, being 24 years old.
While Mahomes and Co. will be looking for a bounce-back win in Denver, fans should take a moment to appreciate how special the young quarterback is. It took 19 years for somebody to break Warner's record. Mahomes, frankly, did not make it close. The record is yet another chapter to an already historically fantastic career.

Through the first six weeks, he led the NFL in passing yards with 2,104. In the process, he threw for 14 touchdowns to one interception, while recording a 111.9 passer rating.
The 2018 NFL MVP, Mahomes is looking to go back-to-back. While breaking a record help, pulling his Chiefs out of a losing streak by winning on primetime football would likely go a bit further in said campaign.
