Patrick Mahomes’ record-breaking season continues. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback broke the 54-year-old franchise record for most touchdown passes in a season in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals at Arrowhead Stadium, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.
Mahomes added two more touchdown passes in the first half — both to Tyreek Hill — to give him 31 on the season, which breaks Len Dawson’s record of 30 set in 1964.

While Dawson set his record in a 14-game schedule back in the AFL, Mahomes needed to get into only the 10th game in his first season as a starter to set the new record.
Article Continues BelowIt’s been a truly remarkable year for Mahomes, who is in his first season as the starter for the Chiefs. Under his leadership, the Chiefs have become the league’s most prolific offense, scoring over 36 points per game.
Of course, he has been helped significantly by the number of terrific receiving weapons at his disposal with Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Kareem Hunt, not to mention Andy Reid’s system. But even with those things going in his favor, it’s still remarkable for Mahomes to eclipse 30 touchdowns in just 10 games.
At the rate Mahomes is going, he’ll definitely be a top contender for MVP along with Drew Brees, especially if he continues to put up his numbers. Mahomes should have a great chance to add a few more touchdowns a bit more as he faces the Rams and Raiders, who have given up 34 passing touchdowns between them this season.
