Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders have gone through a rough season so far in 2018. Not only have they not been winning football games, they have been trading away some of their star talent as well.
Khalil Mack was traded to the Chicago Bears prior to the start of the season and the Raiders also moved star wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys this past week.
That being said, rumors have begun popping up about other key players. Derek Carr is a name that has been talked about as a potential trade candidate. Despite the rumors, it doesn't appear that the Raiders have any interest in trading their quarterback.
According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders have made it clear to Carr that they view him as their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.
The Raiders have told Derek Carr that he is their quarterback now and for the foreseeable future, sources tell ESPN, affirming coach Jon Gruden's assertion that Oakland will not trade the three-time Pro Bowler.
Derek Carr has been struggling the last couple of years. He was expected to turn things around this season, but that has not been the case so far.
Throughout the six games he has played this season for the Raiders, Carr has completed 71.7 percent of his pass attempts for 1,783 yards, seven touchdowns, and eight interceptions. His biggest issue has been turning the football over, but there is no denying the talent that his arm possesses.
Just a couple short years ago, Carr was being talked about as a potential MVP candidate. Oakland is hoping that he can get back to playing at that level.
Expect to see Derek Carr remain with the Raiders for quite some time. There may be more moves coming, but do not expect to see Oakland trade their starting quarterback.
