The Denver Broncos traded away a franchise cornerstone on Monday, sending longtime defensive star Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams for a pair of 2022 draft picks. Miller spent the first nine-plus seasons of his career with the Broncos before this trade, so he was naturally emotional about getting a new home in Los Angeles.
Miller opened up on the deal in the immediate aftermath of it on Monday:
"It's always tough whenever you leave but I love all my fans. I love Broncos country. When I said Broncos for life, I meant that. Just an honor and a privilege to play here."

Miller blossomed into an NFL superstar in Denver, going to eight Pro Bowls out of the nine full seasons he played there. His streak of six straight Pro Bowls was snapped last season when he didn't play at all. He was also named First-Team All-Pro three times during his Broncos tenure.

The 32-year-old took the NFL by storm immediately upon entering the league as the second overall pick in the 2011 draft. He had 11.5 sacks as a rookie and then notched a career-high 18.5 sacks in his second season. 2013 and 2019 are the only two seasons in his career so far in which he didn't record double-digit sacks.
Miller has 4.5 sacks in 2021 and will now be taking his talents to a loaded Rams roster featuring Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey on defense. Donald and Ramsey are certainly excited about the trade, and the 7-1 Rams have designs of winning the Super Bowl.
As for the Broncos, they're 4-4 on the season and looking to the future with this trade. They're getting a second-round pick and a third-round pick for Miller, who's set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season. With Denver likely not going anywhere this season and Miller headed for free agency, it made sense to part ways with the longtime star, as painful as it may have been to pull the trigger.
