The Los Angeles Rams squeezed past the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon 29-27 in what was their most tested game of the season. It was also a contest that saw Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff deal with pressure in the pocket that he hadn't faced yet this season that saw him take some hard hits beyond the five sacks that he took.
According to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN, Goff had undergone x-rays after the game to which he voiced to head coach Sean McVay that he was fine.
Shortly after the Rams defeated the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, to the apparent surprise of coach Sean McVay, quarterback Jared Goff entered the team's X-ray room.
“Are you OK?” the Rams coach asked as he prepared to hold his postgame news conference in an adjacent room.
Goff deadpanned: “Yeah. You OK?”
A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that he doesn't “think Goff will miss any time.”
This is a tough game for the Rams with the Packers giving them everything they had on the field that saw them fall down 10-0 at home in what felt like a road game with the showing of Green Bay's fan base. Los Angeles was able to push past their early offensive woes to score 21 points in the second half that proved to be enough to grab the win as a fumble by Ty Montgomery on the kickoff essentially sealed the deal with Todd Gurley picking up a first down to run the clock out.
Goff was tested through the game as he had faced constant pressure in the pocket that saw him get sacked on three consecutive third downs to begin the contest. He was also dealing with defenders near him on the various throws that he did make down the field as the various blitz packages that Green Bay sent were effectively getting to the quarterback.
However, Goff was able to battle through it by completing 19-of-35 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns. He made enough plays with his arm to help the Rams earn a hard-fought win at home over a playoff-caliber team. The Rams will likely continue to monitor Goff's health moving forward, but he should be available to go for another intense game on the road in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.
