Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters has cleared concussion tests and is expected to play in his team's Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, according to Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk.

Peters took a shot to the head from Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive lineman Donovan Smith this past Sunday at the very end of his 32-yard interception return for a touchdown.

He exited the game and was sidelined for the final eight minutes while being examined by medical staff, but everything checked out.

“He cleared the concussion assessment, all the things that you have to go through if you see a hit like that,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay. “But he got a little bit of a facial laceration or something like that from the shot. He’s feeling good, didn’t have any effects and he totally passed. He wasn’t in concussion protocol but he passed the assessments so he didn’t have any symptoms so he should be in good shape.”

This is certainly significant news for Los Angeles, as it will need all of the help it can get in its secondary when it takes on Russell Wilson and a rejuvenated Seahawks passing game on Thursday.

Peters has logged eight tackles, a pick, and three passes defended thus far this season.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Rams via trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2018, is coming off of a fairly disappointing first season in Los Angeles, when he played in all 16 games and totaled 43 tackles, three interceptions, eight passes defended, and a defensive touchdown.

He made a couple of Pro Bowls and also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection during his three-year tenure with the Chiefs.
