Los Angeles Rams star running back Todd Gurley bounced back in a major way in his third campaign in 2017, earning strong consideration for the MVP award.

During an interview on the FS1's “Undisputed” on Tuesday morning, Gurley voiced a strong belief that he deserves to earn that prestigious honor.

The 23-year-old is coming off a career-best campaign where he finished second in the league with 1,305 rushing yards, an NFL-high 13 rushing touchdowns, 64 catches, 788 receiving yards, and six more touchdowns through the air. Gurley led the league with 2,093 scrimmage yards, which put him alongside Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk, as well as Steven Jackson, as the only players in franchise history with more than 2,000 scrimmage yards in a single season.

The Georgia product rushed for 100 or more yards six times, topped by a season-high 152 rushing yards and four total touchdowns in a blowout 42-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks to essentially clinch the NFC West title. This outing put him alongside Faulk as the only players in franchise history to have at least 150 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown in a single game.

Gurley looks to have stiff competition for the award, as New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appears to be the slight favorite to earn the honor for the third time in his career.

At that same token, the Rams star tailback believes that the Philadelphia Eagles have a chance to win Super Bowl LII over Brady and the Patriots.

Despite not having the services of quarterback Carson Wentz, the Eagles still got the job done with Nick Foles under center. The backup QB is coming off arguably the biggest performance of his career, recording 352 passing yards and three touchdowns in a blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings to reach the Super Bowl.

If Philadelphia hopes to top the Patriots, it will require them to play effectively defensively against Brady, who is still playing at an elite level. He is coming off another impressive performance, leading New England back from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit in the AFC Championship game despite dealing with a cut on his right thumb that needed 12 stitches.
