With an offseason overhaul immediately vaulting them up into likely postseason entrants, the Miami Dolphins have done quite a lot with their roster, all the while keeping their trust in Tua Tagovailoa. While that support could immediately disappear if he starts to play poorly again, this Dolphins roster looks to be quite strong under Mike McDaniel.
But the trade market always has some targets to go after, and Miami would be smart to go after these three players to make their roster even better.

Dolphins Trade Targets To Complete 2022 Roster
Curtis Samuel – WR
Washington Commanders
Yes, everyone knows that during the offseason of wide receivers, it was the Dolphins that helped jumpstart that process by acquiring Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs. A shocker at the time, the pairing of Hill will Jaylen Waddle gives Tagovailoa a superb 1-2 punch, but they certainly could still use another option.
Having signed former Dallas WR Cedrick Wilson to a surprisingly-large deal this offseason gives him the first shot at WR3, adding an upside option in Curtis Samuel would be a smart decision for the front office to make. With 2022 being the final year on his deal and coming off an injury, Samuel likely would come with a cheaper price tag and could slide into Miami’s offense and make an immediate impact.
While reliant on a consistent target share to be efficient, Samuel likely would experience a downtick in targets, but he would be a sneaky TD option with the defense worrying about Mike Gesick, Hill, and Waddle.
Dalvin Tomlinson – DT
Minnesota Vikings
Another player in the final year of his deal, defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson would help bring some much-needed interior DL help to the team.
With both Raekwon Davis and Christian Wilkins having substantial roles on the line, Tomlinson could come in and take some pressure off of these two players, making each of them more efficient and potentially put up career years. A mid-round selection is all that would be required to acquire Tomlinson, a realistic price for the Dolphins to pay.
Deebo Samuel – WR
San Francisco 49ers
The story that just won’t go away is the potential deal involving the Dolphins and WR Deebo Samuel. Incredibly unrealistic after their acquisition of Hill, but the Dolphins likely, at a minimum, had conversations about the value of Samuel, so having a deal come together likely would not be all that difficult.
The difficulties lie in a new contract for Samuel, who is looking to be fairly compensated for his RB/WR dual role that he thrived in last season with the 49ers. With Miami locked in on Hill with a new deal and other players (Tagovailoa included) up for new deals soon, being able to dedicate that much of their salary sheet to two WRs is an unlikely course the front office is wanting to follow.
Alas, the offensive fluidity that McDaniel would be able to scheme for would be groundbreaking and he likely would be able to produce an incredibly-efficient unit that relies on being inconsistent and confusing. The likelihood of this deal happening is not quite zero, but it certainly is teetering on the edge of a single-digit percentage.
