Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Davon Godchaux will be out for at least a few months with a biceps injury, according to NFL Network's Mike Garofalo and Tom Pelissero.

Godchaux suffered the injury in the Dolphins' 43-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

After getting a second opinion on Monday, Godchaux will aim to return to the field in a few months, prior to the end of the season.

Godchaux is set to hit free agency in March.

Miami selected the former LSU Tigers standout in the fifth round (No. 178 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 311-pound lineman has started every game for the Dolphins since the beginning of the 2018 season. He has recorded three sacks, 179 tackles, and 16 hits on the quarterback in his career, though his primary role is stopping the run.

In 2019, Godchaux made more stops within two yards of the line of scrimmage than any other defensive tackle in the league, per Pro Football Rumors. The Dolphins were high on him coming into this year, evidenced by their lack of interest in the top defensive tackles on the market last offseason.

Godchaux is set to earn $2.1 million in 2020 — the final year of his rookie deal. He has 16 tackles (one for a loss) and two QB hits through five games this season.

In Godchaux's absence, rookie Raekwon Davis — a second-round pick — will attempt to fill the void. Davis has five tackles in his young career to this point. Third-year DT Zach Sieler will also see an increased role.

Miami is 2-3 on the season after its recent win over the defending NFC champions. The Dolphins will visit the Denver Broncos (1-3) on Sunday.
