Contrary to reports stating otherwise, the Miami Dolphins did not schedule an interview with Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator Vic Fangio for their head-coaching position on Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Dolphins did request permission to speak with Fangio and did their research on him, but they ultimately decided to turn their focus elsewhere. They are also set to interview special teams coach Darren Rizzi sometime this week.
Fangio, who will interview with the Denver Broncos on Monday, led the Bears to the third-ranked defense in the NFL this season.
He has been Chicago's defensive coordinator since 2015 and has about as much NFL experience as you can ask for, also serving as defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, and San Francisco 49ers.

Rizzi has been a member of Miami's coaching staff for quite some time, serving as special teams coach and associate head coach since 2010, so the Dolphins' front office is certainly familiar with his work.
Miami is in search of a new head coach after firing Adam Gase following a 7-9 season, ending his three-year tenure with the team. Gase went 23-25 over his three seasons in South Beach, leading the Dolphins to 10 wins and a playoff appearance during his first season in 2016.
