The Dolphins possess the No. 5, No. 18, and No. 26 picks in the first round of this year's draft. Leading up to the draft, most people assume Miami is going to select a quarterback. However, not many have predicted the Dolphins selecting Love in the first round.
For the most part, analysts have projected Miami to select either Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert with the No. 5 pick. On the other hand, some analysts have the Dolphins trading up to select one of the quarterback prospects.
Article Continues BelowDespite being connected to Tagovailoa and Herbert, the Dolphins just seem to be doing their due diligence on Love. Over the past two seasons at Utah State, Love has combined for 6,969 yards, 52 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. Of those 23 interceptions, 17 of them came during the 2019 season.
Even though he saw a drop-off in performance this past season, Love also had less talent around him in his junior year. Regardless of his numbers, teams in the NFL see potential in Love due to his strong arm and off-schedule playmaking.
This offseason, the Dolphins are expected to address the quarterback position, finding the team's future franchise signal-caller. While a majority of people assume they will draft Tagovailoa or Herbert, Miami could turn some heads by surprisingly taking Love in this year's draft.
