The Miami Dolphins can go several different directions in the 2022 NFL offseason. With rumors swirling around Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Dolphins could swing for the fences and swing a trade for the star, though they'd be eating into their future draft capital by doing so. Armed with plenty of cap space, the Dolphins, who seem keen on giving incumbent Tua Tagovailoa a chance, could attempt to build the best team possible around him. That said, here are four bold predictions for the Dolphins in the 2022 NFL offseason.

Dolphins Offseason Predictions

4. The Dolphins keep Tua Tagovailoa

The Dolphins will seriously flirt with the idea of adding Deshaun Watson. However, new head coach Mike McDaniel, who has talked up the “greatness” he wants to get out of the Alabama product, will get the chance to prove he can do just that. Meanwhile, Tagovailoa will get the opportunity to show he can be a franchise guy in the league. While the sexy idea is to trade for Watson, the more sensible one might just be to see what the Dolphins really have with Tagovailoa, who needs a better team around him.

3. The Dolphins draft Treylon Burks

Miami admittedly has some talent at wide receiver already in Jaylen Waddle and Will Fuller. However, Fuller was often injured, as was veteran DeVante Parker, who the team may opt to release in the offseason to free up more cap room. If they do, Burks makes sense as a selection at the back end of the first round. The Arkansas product has size, he's 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. Burks would give the Dolphins the physical presence they need on the outside, alongside the two shorter, speedier players in Waddle and Fuller. Burks would also allow Waddle to play more from the slot, where he has proven to be deadly. Having Burks, Waddle and Fuller would give Tagovailoa a very capable receiving room.

2. The Dolphins sign Leonard Fournette

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won't be able to keep everyone, meaning some talented player is going to be pried away in free agency. It could be Fournette, who would be a dream signing for the running-back starved Dolphins. Fournette is still just 27 years old, has championship experience and is a former first-round pick. If the Buccaneers star were to land in Miami, he would immediately slot in as a starter ahead of the likes of Duke Johnson, Myles Gaskin and Phillip Lindsay. Fournette would be the best running back to suit up for Miami since Jay Ajayi. He would instantly improve upon their 30th-ranked rushing attack.

1. The Dolphins sign not one, but two free agent offensive linemen

If the Dolphins want to find out whether Tua Tagovailoa is their guy, they need to give him the proper resources. The Dolphins will sign not one, but two free agent linemen. Not only that, but they will be two offensive tackles, solidifying each side of the offensive line. The Dolphins, with all their cap space, can easily bring in two players, such as Morgan Moses and Trent Brown, to help ensure that Tagovailoa is better protected in 2022. Or they can make a splash and go for Terron Armstead. Either way, the Dolphins will go big to upgrade their offensive line.
