The Minnesota Vikings are hoping to get a winning streak going against the Washington Redskins in Week 8. Unfortunately, it appears they will be notably shorthanded.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, wide receiver Adam Thielen has been ruled out against Washington.

Vikings’ WR Adam Thielen will not play Thursday night vs *Washington.

Thielen suffered a hamstring injury on his lone reception that went for a 25-yard touchdown during Minnesota's 42-30 victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 7. He was optimistic that the injury was not too severe, however, was unable to log in any practice time throughout during the short week of practice. As a result, it seems the team has opted to keep him sidelined this time around.

The decision means that Thielen's 87-game playing streak will officially come to an end. His absence deals a crushing blow to the Vikings offense while leaving a notable void in the receiving corps. The All-Pro has registered 27 receptions for 391 yards and six touchdowns so far in the 2019 NFL season. The onus will now fall on quarterback Kirk Cousins to make do without his favorite target in the passing game.

With Thielen out, wide receiver Stefon Diggs steps in as the No. 1 option for Cousins. Meanwhile, tight end Kyle Rudolph has also established himself as a safety net underneath. Although Washington has endured their fair share of struggles this season, they have still been rather stout on defense.

The Vikings could very well opt to take a run-heavy approach if there is a noticeable drop-off in the passing game without Thielen.
