The Minnesota Vikings were dealt a crucial blow with wide receiver Adam Thielen ruled out for Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. Fortunately, it appears to be a precaution that is being taken by the team.
Thielen has been nursing a hamstring injury in the Week 7 win over the Detroit Lions. According to Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune, the Vikings do not think it will be a long-term injury:
Article Continues BelowAdam Thielen's right hamstring injury is not considered “long-term” by Vikings, according to Mike Zimmer, who said Thielen was “not rushed back too soon.” … “He got in[to the game], and it grabbed a bit.”
This is certainly an encouraging update for Thielen. He managed to suit up against the Kansas City Chiefs after sitting out Week 8, however, he was limited to only seven snaps before having to sit out the rest of the game in an effort to not further aggravate the injury.
Although Thielen is not expected to miss too much more time, Minnesota appears to be hesitant to give an exact timetable. This could simply be a cautionary move considering hamstring injuries have a tendency to linger around. Their primary focus is to ensure that their All-Pro wideout is healthy enough to make an impact down the final stretch.
Regardless, there is no question that Thielen's absence leaves quite a notable void in the Vikings receiving corps heading into this primetime showdown with the Cowboys. The onus will fall on wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Laquon Tredwell to pick up the slack while he recovers.
