The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Washington Redskins by a score of 19-9 on Thursday night, but instead of gloating about beating his former team, Kirk Cousins took the high road after the game.
“We won the game and that’s all that matters and that’s all my focus was on,” the Vikings quarterback said, according to Jeff Wald of FOX 9. “They were a tremendous place to go to work for six years and I just have the best of memories from my time there. I’m just happy we won. I’m just thrilled that we won the game. That’s what it’s all about.”
Of course, Cousins spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Redskins, taking over for Robert Griffin III as the full-time starter in 2015. He made the Pro Bowl in 2016 after throwing for 4,917 yards, 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 67 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 97.2.
The 31-year-old then signed a lucrative three-year deal with Minnesota in March 2018.
Cousins completed 23 of his 26 passes for 285 yards during the win over the Redskins, and over the last four games, he has been sensational, throwing 10 touchdowns and just one interception after a slow start to the season that had some questioning whether or not the Vikings could make the playoffs with him under center.
On the year overall, Cousins has thrown for 1,997 yards, 13 touchdowns and three picks while completing 72.1 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 115.2, which leads the NFL.
The Vikings are now 6-2 and will take on the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
