The Minnesota Vikings are bringing back former first-round draft pick Laquon Treadwell as a 4th wide receiver according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.

The Vikings only were carrying four wide receivers to start and now with Chad Beebe lost for a while with torn ankle ligaments they were down to three. The Vikings have Adam Thielen, Steffon Diggs, and rookie Olabisi Johnson.

Johnson showed some flashes during training camp and preseason, but he hasn't been targeted in an NFL game yet, so it's hard to imagine the Vikings would want to run him out there as a main wideout target.

Treadwell was a first-round pick by the Vikings in 2016, but the last couple of years he has had problems catching on. During his career, he has only caught 56 passes for 517 yards and a touchdown.

Treadwell was cut after the 4th preseason game by the Vikings and has since had workouts with the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions, but neither ended up with a contract,

It makes sense the Vikings decided to bring him back for a couple of reasons. They needed someone who will be able to play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, and Treadwell already knows the system, so he will be able to fit right now.

The team also still had to pay him his guaranteed contract even though they cut him, so bringing him back in isn't going to cost them any more money, and with them being close to the cap, it makes sense not to spend more money on this signing.
