The Minnesota Vikings believed that they solved their special teams woes by acquiring Kaare Vedvik. Just a couple weeks after trading for him, Minnesota is releasing Vedvik, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The #Vikings informed kicker/punter Kaare Vedvik they’re waiving him, per source. Vedvik – acquired three weeks ago for a fifth-round pick – could be back on the practice squad. But they’ll roll with Dan Bailey as kicker and Matt Wile as punter.

After having an impressive beginning to the preseason with the Baltimore Ravens, the Vikings made the decision to trade a fifth-round pick in exchange for Vedvik. That decision is looking like an awful one for Mike Zimmer and company.
When Minnesota traded for Vedvik, Matt Wile and Dan Bailey were still with the team. Following Saturday's roster cuts, the team seems ready to move forward with Bailey and Wile as their kicker and punter. There is still the possibility that Vedvik lands on the team's practice squad.

To begin the preseason, Vedvik made all four of his field-goal attempts with the Ravens—including a 55-yard boot against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Along with his field-goal kicking, the kicking specialist also served as the Ravens punter in the preseason.
There were multiple teams bidding for his services but the Vikings won the sweepstakes. Now, it's likely that Minnesota doesn't see the trade as a win anymore.
When the Vikings acquired Vedvik, their intentions were to let him kick field goals and punt the ball to create some competition at both positions. Unfortunately, the recently acquired kicker struggled in his short stay with the Vikings.
In two preseason games, the second-year kicker only made one of his four field-goal tries and failed to show much as a punter. In the end, the trade ending up being a disaster for both parties involved.
