At first glance, some people may believe that Stefon Diggs is having a down year for the Minnesota Vikings. Contrary to belief, Diggs is actually having a career year in one department.
While the Vikings continue to find ways to win, Diggs is on pace to set a career-high in receiving yards in 2019. Currently, the big-play wide receiver has hauled in 46 receptions for 880 yards and five touchdowns.
Provided that, Diggs is on pace to catch 66 passes for 1,280 yards and seven touchdowns. Before this season, Diggs' career-high in receiving yards was 1,021 yards in 2018.
Earlier in the season, there was a point where Diggs was discontent with his role in the Vikings' offense. There were even rumors that the Maryland product could be traded by the team.
Article Continues BelowBut after an apology from Kirk Cousins and other adjustments, Minnesota has won six out of their last seven games. On Sunday, the Vikings were able to overcome a 20-0 deficit against the Denver Broncos to win 27-23.
In the game, it was Diggs who caught a 54-yard touchdown from Cousins to bring the Vikings within three points. Then, Kule Rudolph gave Minnesota the lead after taking a 32-yard catch for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
What is most impressive about Diggs' resurgence in the offense is that it is coming with Adam Thielen being sidelined with a hamstring injury. Thielen has missed three games due to injury and in those games, Diggs has totaled 15 receptions, 313 yards, and a touchdown.
As long as Diggs can continue his recent success, he should finish the season with a personal best in receiving yards.
