Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is set to become the biggest name on the market this offseason. Needless to say, the stars have aligned for Cousins to be rewarded with what could be the most lucrative contract in NFL history.

Among the frontrunners to land his services are the Minnesota Vikings. According to the Burgundy Blog, former Redskins tight end Chris Cooley feels the Vikings could follow through on with a prodigious offer:

Cooley said an agent told him Vikings offering Cuz 3Y/$91M fully guaranteed.

While it is a shorter deal than what has been reported, the guaranteed money involved certainly makes up for it. However, it remains to be seen what the annual figure on such an amount would be. Fortunately, it could potentially meet the standard now that the league-wide salary cap has been raised upwards of $10 million for the 2018 NFL season.

Minnesota has emerged as favorites to land Cousins ever since Washington announced their blockbuster trade for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. The Vikings' disappointing loss in this year's NFC Championship Game has spurred heavy belief that they are one prolific quarterback away from taking that next step into Super Bowl contention. Although quarterback Case Keenum enjoyed a career year in the 2017 campaign, it seems the Vikings would rather place their bid for the more promising Cousins.

The Vikings are reportedly one of the last two teams Cousins is choosing between along with the New York Jets. Aside from the Cleveland Browns, the Jets have more cap room than any other team and can likely offer him the staggering contract he seeks. This may be the reason why Cooley feels such a large amount of guaranteed money could be enough to spur Cousins' decision.
