The tributes for the late, great John Madden have been rolling in since the Hall of Famer's passing on Tuesday evening, and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is one of the latest to offer up his words. Belichick actually had a rather humorous anecdote about the Madden video game series after talking about the man himself.
Apparently, Belichick used to play Madden with his kids when they were growing up. Unfortunately for the Patriots coach, his success at Madden was nothing like his success on the sidelines:
"When my kids were growing up, I'd watch it. I'd play it and they'd beat me."

It might even be more hilarious to imagine Belichick being really good at video games and trash talking his downtrodden opponents.
Whatever the case, John Madden's video game series has had a massive impact on the NFL and the video game industry itself. It's the most popular sports video game series of all time. Being on the cover became a big deal over the years, even with the supposed “Madden Curse.”
While John Madden has sadly passed on, his legacy will live on in these video games. Maybe Bill Belichick will fire it up for old time's sake.
