The depth and quality of the New England Patriots receiving corps have already been put in question ever since the era under former long-time quarterback Tom Brady. Those concerns emerged once again even as the team is opening a new chapter with Cam Newton at the helm.

The 2015 NFL MVP cleared the air and only heaped praises to his offensive weapons:

“Man, I’ll say this, the answers are in that locker room. Simple and plain,” Newton said. “We got Little Butt, Doughboy, Highway 11 and MyGerms. We good to go. Let me rewind that. We have Damiere Byrd, N’Keal Harry, Julian Edelman and Jakobi Meyers.”

The new-look Patriots stood their ground and put up valiant efforts in their first two games of the season. Newton had enough support for him to lead his team past the Miami Dolphins on a 21-11 opening game victory.

The wide receivers group had even better individual performances in their Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Veteran wideout Julian Edelman led the way with 179 receiving yards on 8 receptions while sophomore pass-catcher N'Keal Harry tallied 72 receiving yards on 8 touches. Former Carolina Panther Damiere Byrd followed with 72 yards on 6 catches of his own along with undrafted sophomore receiver Jakobi Meyers who chipped in 7 yards on a lone reception.

Their productivity on the wings was not enough as the Patriots narrowly fell to the Seahawks in the final seconds of the game by way of a 35-30 finish. Cam Newton and the rest of the team will still have 14 games to play and see if this receiving corps will indeed do wonders for the Patriots throughout the course of the season.
