For nearly two decades, the presence of Tom Brady equaled a spot in the postseason for the New England Patriots. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise then that in the first season without their correlation-inducing quarterback, the Patriots and Bill Belichick will be watching the playoffs unfold without them.
It's a point that's likely to be discussed ad nauseam on every sports talk show over the next week. Just don't expect Brady himself to get involved in the discussion.
Speaking with reporters following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' victory over the Atlanta Falcons, Brady refused to be drawn into a discussion regarding the Patriots' lack of success, per Greg Auman of The Athletic.
Brady asked about Patriots not making the playoffs, says he's been focusing on his own team and improving his own play. Takes the high road.

In refusing the bait, Brady will keep the narrative on his own success, as Tampa Bay appears set to qualify for the playoffs. Despite entering the day two games back in the loss column of the New Orleans Saints in the race for NFC South division, the Buccaneers currently occupy the sixth seed in the NFC. Good enough for a wild card spot, the Bucs still possess the ability to move up in the standings should the Los Angeles Rams lose their next two contests.
The Patriots, meanwhile, will head conclude their year in two weeks and head into the offseason hoping to find a long-term answer at the quarterback position without Brady. Though they signed Cam Newton in the hope that he could regain the form that once made him a perennial MVP candidate, Newton has struggled all season in the passing game. Having thrown a mere five touchdown passes against 10 interceptions, the potential renaissance the Patriots had hoped Cam would experience has clearly not come to fruition.
While they may never vocalize it, the Patriots clearly miss their Hall of Fame quarterback.
