After being a no-show for a good part of the New England Patriots’ offseason program, Tom Brady finally made his expected return during the team’s three-day mandatory minicamp.
But the Patriots are unlikely to see him again for awhile. According to 98.5 The Sports Hub's Scott Zolak on the Zolak & Bertrand show, Brady is once again expected to sit out the team’s last four organized team activities on June 11-12 and 14-15.
Brady was asked recently about whether he would attend the final portion of OTAs, and he artfully dodged the question:
Article Continues Below“We're not even through today yet,” Brady said per the Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian. “We've had a good three days and been working on the things we need to work on. That's what I always focus on.”
Brady has cited “personal reasons” for why he has not been attending the voluntary portion of the Patriots’ offseason this year despite being vocal about its importance in the past.
While Brady’s absence from OTAs isn’t ideal, it’s likely not as big an issue as some are making out to be. As he showed by being there for mandatory minicamp, Brady is still committed to showing up and doing his job when he needs to.
At 40 years of age with everything he’s done for and has gone through with the franchise, Brady has more than earned the right to take some time off in the offseason. But once training camp rolls around at the end of next month, expect the Patriots quarterback to be there and ready to roll.
