New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has still not reported for the team’s ongoing offseason program and is unlikely to do so until mandatory minicamp, which is coming soon. However, he has been going to Gillette Stadium on a “semi-regular” basis for some throwing sessions Julian Edelman in the practice bubble, per Mike Giardi of NBC Sports Boston.

The Athletic’s Jeff Howe then added that Brady has not been at the stadium or working out at the nearby TB12 training facility while his other teammates are practicing at OTAs.

It’s been awhile since Brady has hooked up with his favorite receiver. Edelman missed the entire 2017 season after tearing his ACL last year and is slowly working himself back up to full fitness. Since it’s been so long since they’ve worked together, it’s unsurprising to hear that Brady is looking to shake some of the cobwebs off with his trusted target by getting some reps in this offseason.

However, Brady could simply choose to do get back to work with Edelman and the rest of his teammates during OTAs, and his refusal to do so remains relevant. He clearly has his reasons for deciding not to show up until absolutely necessary, and while it’s his prerogative, it’s intriguing to know what those reasons are.

Unless Brady finally decides to just come out and say it, no one will completely know for sure. But if he, with the help of Edelman, comes back and leads the Patriots to more success this season, it likely won’t even matter.
