In spite of the high number of veterans on their team, the New England Patriots are committing to the players they have won a lot with. One such player is Matthew Slater as he signs a two-year deal with the team that drafted him in 2008.
Slater has been a key component of the Patriots' special teams and should once again be a contributor to the franchise's Super Bowl hopes next season. The commitment to two more years of football is a testament to how well Slate has performed for the Patriots.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the two-year contract will cost the Patriots around $2.6 million per year. For them to secure a role player that was a part of the First Team All-Pro shows how well Slater's talents fit with the Patriots.

He was converted to a fixture on the special teams, and the fact that he has won three Super Bowls on top of eight Pro Bowls and two All-Pro mentions proves his synergy at the position.
