Things aren't looking so bright right now for New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas. The star was supposedly set to return to the field for his team in New Orleans' Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. According to a new report, however, Thomas is now in danger of missing that contest due to a new hamstring injury he sustained in practice.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Thomas' status for Sunday remains up in the air:

As described above, it's been a shaky past few weeks for the 27-year-old who has been dealing with an ankle injury from Week 1. He'd been out of action for nearly a month before the three-time Pro-Bowler then got into a scuffle with a teammate during practice. The Saints' star wideout was subsequently fined and suspended for Week 5. He was on his way back for Week 7, but this hamstring injury is the latest hurdle Thomas will need to face.

The Saints are going into Week 7 with a two-game winning streak after logging consecutive wins against the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Charges in Week 4 and Week 5, respectively. They're hoping to make it three straight against the Panthers, and the availability of Thomas will surely help their cause.

Then again, hamstring injuries can be tricky, and the Saints won't be risking the long-term health of their star WR if he isn't one hundred percent healthy.

One thing is clear, though: things can only get better for Thomas from here on out. Right?
