The New Orleans Saints had a sigh of relief as fullback Michael Burton's positive COVID-19 case turned out to be a false alarm. He was tested before the team flew to Detroit on Saturday for their Week 4 matchup against the Lions but didn’t come back until the team had already arrived in Detroit. He was re-tested to which the result came up to be negative.

The other Saints players have tested negative as well which makes them eligible to push through with the scheduled game against the Lions on Sunday. NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has confirmed that the two teams will indeed take on the field via Twitter:

A couple of NFL games have already been postponed following positive coronavirus cases across several teams. An outbreak emerged after the Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings game which involved three Titans players and five team personnel.

The supposed Week 4 matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers which was originally scheduled on October 4 was eventually moved to October 25 with the two teams having their bye week as early as Week 4 of the season.

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton and Kansas City Chiefs practice squad gunslinger Jordan Ta'amu also both tested positive ahead of the Week 4 encounter between the two teams which prompted a postponement. The game was originally scheduled for October 4 and remains to be pushed back until October 5 or October 6 depending on the results of the coronavirus tests.

With Burton being confirmed as COVID-19 free, the Week 4 game between the Saints and the Lions will push through as scheduled with both teams gunning for their second win of the season.
