On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will have a new running back coming out of the backfield sharing carries with Mark Ingram. Future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson will make his debut for the Saints against his former team in the Minnesota Vikings.

Along with it bound to be an emotional day for Peterson, the veteran running back wants it to be known that he's still an elite back in the NFL. Peterson thinks the notion that he's no longer elite is crazy, via Brett Martel of the Associated Press.

“It's just always crazy sitting back and seeing how, just because, you know, I'm 32 now, people say, ‘Oh, well, he's losing it because this back or that back lost it around that time,'” Peterson said after practice Thursday. “But you erase the (2015) season when I came back after sitting out for a year and led the league in rushing.”

When healthy, Peterson is a scary sight coming out of the backfield for opponents defenses. The 32-year-old can be a game changer and he's hoping to continue that reputation and dominance on the gridiron in New Orleans.

Although Peterson will be taking on a different role by sharing carries with Ingram, the one-time NFL MVP can't still make a considerable impact as part of a potentially dynamic offense for the Saints led by Drew Brees.

Peterson will be tested right out of the gate against his former team. Minnesota's defense poses a challenge for the veteran back as he tries to make an impression immediately with the Saints in Week 1.
