The New Orleans Saints and All-Pro wideout Michael Thomas have been discussing a new contract recently. It seems as if a deal could be made official very soon.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Saints and Thomas are “inching” towards a long-term deal. It was reported on Monday that the Saints have offered Thomas a deal in the $18-$19 million range.

Although, Thomas seemingly wants to be the first receiver in the NFL to garner at least $20 million per year on his new deal. There are a ton of receivers in need of new contracts but Thomas is one of the youngest ones.

At 26-years old, Thomas has showcased his ability to be one of the NFL's best pass-catchers. In his first three seasons in the NFL, Thomas has caught over 90 passes and 1,000 yards in each year.

Last year though, Thomas took his game to another stratosphere. The Saints' Pro-Bowl wide receiver caught 125 passes for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns. All of those numbers were career-highs for Thomas.

Although, the most impressive stat was Thomas' ability to catch 85% of his targets in 2018. Alongside Alvin Kamara, Thomas has become a staple of the Saints offense and one of the best in the NFL at his craft.

Drew Brees' window to win another Super Bowl is gradually closing and keeping a weapon like Thomas long-term is vital to the franchise's success. Well, there's good news for Saints fans, there will likely be a deal in place for the talented wideout in the coming days.
