New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has blossomed into one of the elite wide receivers in the entire NFL. In fact, there is a very strong argument that he's right at the top of the list.

Therefore, it should not come as much of a surprise that Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com reported that Thomas is the betting favorite to lead NFL in receiving yards for the 2020 regular season.

Thomas comes in with +350 odds. The next closest is Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons at +700.

This is not surprising at all. Thomas has quite a few things going for him. First of all, he's an elite route runner with elite hands. He's one of the best at his position in all of football.

It also helps that Michael Thomas is in an offense designed to get him a ridiculous amount of targets. Oh, and he has future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees tossing him the football, that definitely doesn't hurt.

This would not be new territory for Thomas either. The receiver led the NFL in receptions (149) and receiving yards (1,725) in 2019. Both of those were new career-highs. His nine touchdown receptions tied a career-mark.

That was no fluke season though. Thomas has only had under 100 receptions once in his four-year career so far. And that was 92 receptions in 15 games in his rookie season. He's also always had over 1,100 yards receiving and at least five receiving touchdowns in each season.

So, Michael Thomas is very consistent. He's a safe bet when considering who is going to be right near the top of the league in receiving categories. And in 2019 he proved that he can run away with the top honors.

Now Thomas is the betting favorite to lead in receiving yards once again in 2020. And it almost seems foolish to bet against him.
