Through his first three years in the league, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has emerged as a promising star at his position behind his elite level of production.

During a recent interview with Tyler Dunne of Bleacher Report, Thomas made it clear that he has huge goals in mind for his career that will put him in the all-time record books.

“When I show up to play and the numbers [come] back,” he says, “I'm the guy that [will be] at the top. And we're talking about NFL history. Not your franchise. We're talking NFL history. We're talking about every guy that's played the position—for any organization—who had a chance to be in my position and write his name in history but didn't.

“And I feel like I did.

“That's how the story has to be told.”

Thomas has certainly made his mark on the league as he has established himself as the go-to wide receiver for the Saints offense that has seen him continue to pile up impressive numbers along the way.  This has seen him post more than 90 catches and 1,100 receiving yards in his first two years in the league that saw him set a league record with 196 catches in his first two season that surpassed the 194 receptions that was previously set by Jarvis Landry.

He had also joined New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as the only wideouts in NFL history to post at least 90 catches in each of his first two years. Thomas is already off to a strong pace through the first three weeks of this season with 38 catches for 398 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He currently leads the NFL in receptions, receiving yards, third in touchdown catches, and first with 132.7 receiving yards per game. This has seen him top 10 or more receptions in each contest and both of his 100 receiving yard performances being north of 125 yards.

Thomas has developed a clear, strong bond with star quarterback Drew Brees that could see him continue to put up huge seasons together as long as he continues to extend his career. Beyond that, the 25-year-old looks to have the talent that could lead to him reaching those lofty goals of being in the NFL record books in many regards.
