The New Orleans Saints are inching closer toward securing the top overall spot in the NFC playoff picture heading into the final two weeks of the regular season.
Things have continued to hedge in the right direction as the team will be getting back veteran wide receiver Tedd Ginn Jr. this week as he has been cleared for his return off the injured reserve, according to Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate.
“I believe I'm up to speed,” Ginn said. “As an organization you got to play a role. I just go out and do as they tell me to. Work me in however they have to. It's no biggie for me. Just try to be that team player and that leader and just give a little spark to my team.”
Ginn had been on the injured reverse for the last several weeks due to a knee injury that flared up as he was limited to playing in just for four games this year. He has been working his way back over the last couple of months with eyes toward being able to take the field prior to the start of the playoffs.

This something that the Saints have lacked in some regards with Pro Bowler Michael Thomas being their primary asset while rookie Tre'Quan Smith has had his ups and downs along the way.
Although he has been cleared to return, he will first need to go through a week of practice and prove that he's completely past the injury. If so, he could be back in the mix to play this week's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers albeit in limited action.
