Given the possibility that the New Orleans Saints could lose backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to free agency, could they consider the likes of Miami Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill?

Not according to Pro Football Talk, which is reporting that there is “no way” the Saints end up with Tannehill for the 2019 season.

The Dolphins have not cut Tannehill yet, but they will almost certainly part ways with him this week. He is coming off of a rough 2018 campaign in which he played just 11 games due to a shoulder issue and threw for 1,979 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.7.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by Miami with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He immediately started all 16 games for the Dolphins during his rookie campaign, throwing for 3,294 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 picks while completing 58.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 76.1.

Tannehill showed some improvement in his second season, finishing with 3,913 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, recording a completion percentage of 60.4 percent and a passer rating of 81.7, but he never progressed much beyond that point.

His best season probably came in 2014 when he threw for 4,045 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 12 picks while completing 66.4 percent of his passes and tallying a passer rating of 92.8.

Tannehill also went on to miss the entire 2017 campaign due to a torn ACL.

As for the Saints, they are coming off of a season in which they won 13 games and ended up losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game under controversial circumstances.
