The New Orleans Saints are now down one downfield weapon for the next several weeks. According to Field Yates of ESPN, Saints deep threat Ted Ginn Jr. has been placed on the injured reserve, thus likely ending his season.

Ginn has been slowed down by a knee injury since the season kicked off, but was able to make four appearances on the field, missing just Week 5’s huge win over the Washington Redskins at home.
With the veteran out for the foreseeable future, the Saints will likely give rookie Tre'Quan Smith an expanded role in the team’s robust passing attack.
Article Continues BelowIt’s still probable that Ginn can find his way back into the field this season, especially if the Saints would give him a candidate to return label. What’s certain for now is that he’ll be out for at least eight weeks.
Despite seemingly not having a perfectly healthy Ted Ginn Jr. on the field at at any point over the first six weeks of the season, the Saints still managed to rank first in the league in scoring offense (36.0 points) third in total yards (424.0), and third in passing yards (320.8) per game.
In four games played this year with the Saints, Ginn has accumulated 135 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions.
