Former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has effectively denied the recent rumors linking him with Tom Brady and the Miami Dolphins.

Payton, who stepped down from his role as Saints coach this offseason, was rumored to be on his way to the Dolphins as part of a “package deal” with Brady. The reported plan was that Miami were going to bring in Brady as a part-owner and Payton as coach before working a way to get the QB's playing rights from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the said plan didn't materialize after Brian Flores' lawsuit.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, however, Payton didn't even give them the opportunity to ask the question as he said he has no knowledge of the Brady-Dolphins rumors. He also emphasized that if he had any plans of coaching in 2022, he would have stayed with the Saints, per Mike Triplett of ESPN.

The Tom Brady-Sean Payton rumor is the biggest “What If” of the offseason; however, it is hard to know how much about it is true and how much is not.

Regardless, though, Brady is now back with the Buccaneers. By the looks of it, he is more than determined to lead the team to another Super Bowl run as well.

For Payton, it doesn't seem like he has any plans of returning to the Saints or coaching in general after he decided to leave the franchise.
