Sean Payton may be leaving the New Orleans Saints, but he still can't move on from their playoff bid fail because of the Los Angeles Rams.
The 58-year-old tactician knows (probably) that they can't really blame anyone for their failure to make it to the postseason this 2021. However, no ne can also criticize him for having some gripe about the whole situation. Had the Rams actually won their Week 18 game against the San Francisco 49ers, it would have been Payton's men who would qualify in the playoffs and not the Niners.
Not to mention that the Rams really blew a 17-0 lead, on their home turf of all places! Clearly, it's easy to see where Payton is coming from and why he said he will be rooting against the LA franchise in the NFC title game.

For what it's worth, the NFL odds are not in Sean Payton's favor when it comes to seeing the Rams lose. After all, LA is a slight favorite against the 49ers come Sunday when they play the Conference Championship at SoFi Stadium.

If there is any hope for the Payton, as mentioned, it's the fact that the Rams did blow up a big lead and lost to the Niners in their Week 18 showdown. Perhaps he can buy tickets from LA fans and bring a contingent of 49ers supporters to make life hard for the home team?
