The New Orleans Saints after losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC title game are already gearing up for next year. Their franchise quarterback Drew Brees has been open about his willingness to return to the organization. The team would also like to retain his services as well. However, they'd like to make sure his contract more friendly moving forward.
Right now Brees is planned to make around $33.5 million. The Saints would like to offer him an extension and extend that guaranteed money and then some over time. His contract is leaps and bounds the league's highest. Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions is the closest who's making a shade under $30 million a year.
Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis told Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune:

Brees had previously signed a two-year, $50 million deal this past March. His deal counted for $24 million against the cap this season. But due to other restructures, Brees has backloaded more than $50 million which will be due in the next couple of seasons. Loomis will have to find a way to extend that due money even further.
The Saints last season finished 13-3 in the regular season and were first in the NFC South. Brees threw for 3,992 yards with 32 touchdowns and only five interceptions while sporting a league-leading 74.4 percent completion percentage.
