The New Orleans Saints managed to secure the top seed in the NFC Conference and are now enjoying a bye week as a result. It seems wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. is among the notable beneficiaries of their extended period of rest.

Ginn missed most of the 2018 NFL season due to a knee injury. According to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune, he finally feels back to normal:

“Physically, I’m fine,” he said Wednesday. “I’m back to normal.”

This is certainly an encouraging update for New Orleans. Ginn was on injured reserve for two months due to the knee injury. He was able to make his return in Week 16 before ultimately sitting out the season finale. Fortunately, it appears he has recovered nicely since then.

It is no secret that New Orleans has been desperately trying to add some more firepower to their receiving corps all season. Unfortunately, all of their acquisitions have been met with injury. As a result, it seems the Saints were hoping to at least have Ginn as healthy as possible for the postseason.

The veteran has only played in five games this season. However, he managed to show plenty of promise when he registered five catches for 74 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers a few weeks ago. When healthy, he is capable of serving as the No. 2 option to wide receiver Michael Thomas. His latest comments are an encouraging sign about his status for next weekend. For now, New Orleans will get ready to host the winner of this week's Wild Card matchup between the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles.
