New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees recently said there’s “no doubt” Teddy Bridgewater will play in the regular-season finale against the Carolina Panthers.

Bridgewater has thrown just three passes in the past three years, and he’s more than ready to make the most of his opportunity to see extended game action for the first time in a long while.

“I never turned it off,” Bridgewater said, via Nick Underhill of The Advocate. “Being in the position that I’m in you always have to stay ready. That’s been my mindset since I arrived here. Approach each day with the same mindset that your opportunity can come within a blink of an eye.”

Bridgewater has not started a game since the 2015 season because of a serious knee injury that kept him out for the entirety of 2016 and part of 2017. He's played just 28 total snaps over the last three years while playing for three teams (the Vikings, Jets, and Saints).

It remains to be seen whether Bridgewater will get the chance to start against the Panthers since the Saints, who have clinched the top seed in the NFC, have nothing left to play for. But at the very least, he will likely play most of the game, which is still a significant step for him given everything he’s gone through over the past few years.

If Bridgewater performs well in his extended playing time against the Panthers, it should only help increase his stock heading into free agency this offseason.
