The New Orleans Saints were reportedly looking for a quality wide receiver ahead of the NFL trade deadline, but no moves ended up being made. While they didn't make any moves this year, that certainly does not mean they won't make any in the offseason. There is one potential move they could consider making that could take them from being a lethal offense to one of the best of all-time.
Antonio Brown may not be the superstar wide receiver that he once was just a couple short years ago, but the talent is mostly still there if he can ever get his head back on straight.
It was an awful year for Brown. After forcing his way out of Pittsburgh via trade, he became a diva with the Oakland Raiders. He once again forced his way out of town and signed with the New England Patriots.
After playing one game with the Patriots, Brown ended up being released again after allegations of sexual assault came up. He has been a free agent ever since and teams don't seem interested in signing him until his current allegations are cleared up. This offseason, Brown may pique a few teams' interest.
All of that being said, why should the Saints consider pursuing Brown this offseason even with the drama that he has brought to three straight franchises?
First and foremost, Sean Payton and Drew Brees are one of the top coach-quarterback duos in NFL history. The Saints run a tight ship from the top down, which could provide Brown with much-needed structure. New England had that same kind of structure and Brown seemed to be working out well with them before the off-the-field legal drama hit.
Having the opportunity to play with Brees and alongside Michael Thomas might just intrigue Brown. It would certainly give the Saints one of the best wide receiver duos that the league has ever seen.

New Orleans is once again a Super Bowl contender this season. Having an offense that includes Alvin Kamara on the ground and two superstar wide receivers would be incredible. The Saints would immediately become Super Bowl favorites to start next season.
Would the risk be worth it for the Saints? That is the main question here, and quite simply it would be more than worth it. If things don't work out, the Saints could cut their losses and move on from him.
No one is going to give Brown a ton of money this offseason. He is going to be a risk for whoever decides to bring him on board. On a cheap one-year contract, Brown would be well worth it for the Saints.
Expect to see New Orleans look to make an impact signing or two this offseason. Brown may scare some fans off, but the Saints shouldn't allow his past to impact their decision. Assuming he gets cleared off the legal issues he is facing, the Saints should strongly consider signing the superstar.
