The New York Jets made one of the biggest splashes in NFL free agency this month, signing star running back Le'Veon Bell to a four-year deal.
New Jets head coach Adam Gase is thrilled about the addition, saying how much he loves Bell's versatility:
“I love his variety,” Gase said, according to Kim Jones of NFL.com. “I love that he could do everything. And I think the more film I watch since we’ve signed him, I think I tried not to tease myself too much by watching too much film.”
Bell certainly can do a heck of a lot for an offense.
While he sat out the entire 2018 campaign due to a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was outstanding in 2017, rushing for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while also hauling in 85 receptions for 655 yards and a couple of scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.
“But since we have signed him, I’ve just amped it up and trying to figure out what has he done in Pittsburgh?” added Gase. “You know, how far can we take him? What can we do in the passing game? What do we have to make sure we do right with him in the running game? How do we kind of build this thing around Sam [Darnold], him and some of the other pieces that we have? So you know, it’s been fun to watch, really go back and watch what he’s done in the past.”
The 27-year-old Bell entered the league as a second-round pick in 2013 and has gone on to make three Pro Bowls while earning a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections.
