The New York Jets' starting quarterback in 2021 will have a key new weapon at his disposal, and he's saying all the right things so far. Corey Davis signed a three-year, $37.5 million deal with the Jets earlier in free agency, leaving the Tennessee Titans.

Facing the New York media for the first time and with the Jets having so much uncertainty at quarterback, Davis was questioned early about his expectations as to who will be under center:

It's the perfect answer at this time.

Darnold is the quarterback right now, so Davis' answer builds him up with some praise, noting that he has seen Darnold do great things.

The Jets have to decide this offseason if they want to run it back again with Darnold while providing him an adequate amount of talent on offense, or if it's time to trade him, build up more draft assets and draft Zach Wilson or Justin Fields with the No. 2 overall pick. There's a case to be made on both sides, but Davis is ready to go either way by saying he isn't going to be scared away if Darnold is it.

Darnold has struggled in his first three years in the league. But the glaring lack of talent around him has some wondering what he would look like with a good core of weapons and a new coaching staff led by Robert Saleh.

Others think Zach Wilson or Justin Fields are can't-miss prospects he Jets would regret passing up on.

The Jets will continue to have to waffle back and forth on what choice to make leading up to the draft.

In 12 games started last year, Darnold threw for 2,208 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Bringing Corey Davis in is a sign that the Jets plan to be more aggressive in adding legitimate talent for the future.
