Kicker Dan Bailey is on the market and in search of a new team after his release from the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend. He already has his first stop lined up as he will work out for the New York Jets on Monday, per Field Yates of ESPN.

Bailey was released by the Cowboys on Saturday after seven seasons with the team. During those seven years in Dallas, the 30-year-old established himself has the best kicker in the storied franchise’s history. His 88.2 percent field goal rate currently makes him the second most accurate kicker in NFL history, just behind Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker.

However, Bailey did not have a great season in 2017 as he made just 15 of 20 field goal attempts for a career-low 75 percent clip. Although, it should be noted that he was hindered by a groin injury which saw him miss four games and factored into his struggles.

The Jets currently have Jason Myers penciled in as their kicker after he won a preseason battle over Taylor Bertolet. But by bringing in Bailey, the Jets feel they still have an opportunity to upgrade at the position.

It’s at least worth taking a closer look at Bailey to see if he still has what it takes to be a top kicker following his down year. Much like the Jets deciding to bring in former first-round pick Breshad Perriman for a workout, the potential upside for the Jets if Bailey does still have a lot left in the tank is well worth exploring.
