New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson faced multiple charges stemming from his arrest last January in Florida. Luckily for him, he no longer has to worry about the most serious one. Andy Slater of WINZ reports that the felony charge of threatening a public servant against him has been dropped, while other chargers were also declined.

A Broward State Attorney spokesperson tells me “there was a possible discrepancy regarding the initial estimated speed, but there is no doubt that the defendant was driving recklessly.”

“The other charges were declined, not filed, due to insufficient evidence,” the spokesperson says.

After the other chargers, which included resisting arrest and eluding police, were not filed, Anderson now faces just one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

Anderson’s felony charge of threatening a public servant came after he was caught speeding and running two red lights. Anderson was accused of telling the police officer who arrested him that he was going to find his wife, “f*ck her, and n*t in her eye.”

This development of the felony charge being dropped is obviously great news for Anderson, who had a breakout year with the Jets last season. He had 63 catches for 941 yards and seven touchdowns as he became the team’s primary receiving option. A trial had been set which would’ve taken place during Jets training camp.

But while Anderson has escaped the most serious punishment for this particular incident, it likely doesn’t change the fact that he remains under scrutiny from the team for his tendency to get himself into trouble. He could also still face discipline from the league for his arrest.
