New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell has been drug tested the first two days of training camp, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

“Since he wasn't here in the spring, they have to do everything now,” said Jets head coach Adam Gase. “There's nothing we can do about it.”

To be clear, these are league-mandated drug tests, so it's not like Bell is specifically being singled out. As Gase said, because Bell was not present in the Jets' earlier offseason activities, he had to be pulled off of the practice field at training camp to be drug tested this week.

New York signed Bell to a four-year, $52 million contract earlier this offseason.

Bell, who had previously spent the first six years of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, did not play at all in 2018 as a result of a contract dispute with the Steelers, and in 2017, he held out through Week 1 before finally returning in Week 2.

The last time we saw Bell two seasons ago, he rushed for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging four yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 85 receptions for 655 yards and a couple of scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The 27-year-old played his collegiate football at Michigan State and was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He went on to make three Pro Bowls while notching a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections with the Steelers.
